Maria Apostolaki

Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering

Maria Apostolaki joined Princeton University in August 2022 as an assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering. She also leads the NetSyn Lab at Princeton. Her research draws from networking, security, blockchain, and machine learning.

Apostolaki says her goal in her work is to design and build networked systems that are secure, reliable, and performant. She often does this by going beyond traditional discipline barriers and adopting a cross-layer view on systems.

Apostolaki completed her Ph.D. at ETH Zurich and her postdoctoral work at Carnegie Mellon University. She earned her B.A. at the National Technical University of Athens in Greece. She has been named a rising star in computer networking and communications and was the recipient of the IETF/IRTF Applied Networking Research Prize.
