Using data collected from qualitative fieldwork within a large, urban police department, this research project examines how disparate data sources are employed in patrol, investigative and crime analysis activities, and the consequences of data usage for social inequalities.

Bio:

Sarah is a Ph.D. candidate in the Joint Degree Program in Sociology and Social Policy at Princeton University. Her research interests include surveillance, stratification and the criminal justice system. In her dissertation, she studies the role of Big Data in surveillance across institutional settings, with a particular focus on policing and emergency medicine.
