Privacy law differs greatly between Europe and the United States. These differences have caused recent tension over issues including the safe harbor framework and the right to be forgotten. They have also led to calls for data localization — keeping data physically in within country where it originated — a plan that raises technological challenges.

This panel is the third and last in a series of lunch-timers on law and technology. Each program explores the current state of an emerging technology and the legal, policy, and ethical considerations that stem from it.
