Protocols and platforms such as Mastodon/ActivityPub, BlueSky, Nostr, and others, have shown that it’s possible to reimagine a world where social media is collectively owned and governed. In this workshop, we are convening folks who study, build, and manage alternative social media platforms, e.g., scholars, engineers, and administrators, to discuss the past, present, and future of decentralized social media.
