You may choose to apply for university housing through Princeton’s housing department. Note that you cannot formally apply for housing until you have received a Princeton ID and password, but once your appointment is confirmed, you can contact to receive temporary application credentials. When you email the housing office, please include your affiliation with CITP, and Laura Cummings-Abdo, , as their contact for CITP. Further, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) assigns the ID and password 90 days before the start date of your appointment.
Your PUID card gives you access to many University facilities and services, such as the libraries, gyms, computer centers, and various cafeterias on campus. You will also need your card to access Sherrerd Hall and the CITP kitchen and mail room.
During official University holidays and campus closures, the buildings will remain locked unless the building department requests open hours. During the week University libraries will be open to the public from 7:00 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. and then remain accessible to P.U. cardholders. TigerCard access will start at 8:30 p.m. and end when the library closes (times vary).
All faculty, staff and affiliates may request a new or replacement TigerCard by completing the TigerCard Request Form. Once completed you will receive TigerCard pickup information.
Two additional TigerCard services to highlight: 1) the TigerCard office provides passport photos for $5, and 2) you can put money (Paw Points) (need to login)on your card to swipe for payment at on-campus eateries, the U-Store and the Labyrinth Book Store.
Please note: Any changes in your name, home address or social security number must be reported to the TigerCard office. If you lose your card, there is a replacement fee of $15.00.
Your netID is what is assigned to you by the Office of Information Technology (OIT). Your netID is what is used for your email and other University programs where you need to login. You cannot pick your netID, but if you would like to change your email name, you can do so by creating an alias. Please be aware that any Princeton University program you access that requires your netID login will be the original netID and not the alias.
New Office of the Dean of the Faculty (ODoF) researchers/postdocs will receive their netIDs up to 92 days in advance of their appointment start date. New HR employees will receive their netIDs up to 14 days in advance of their start date. You will need your netID to access this link; it contains important information about the timeline of email deletions/forwarding once a researcher, student or staff member leaves the university. All visa matters are managed by the Davis International Center, not individual departments. To ensure a smooth process, please contact Laura Cummings-Abdo, , with your birth date as soon as you accept your employment offer. She will enter your information into the system, and the Davis IC will issue a temporary ID, becoming your primary contact moving forward.
New hires typically need to have their appointment formalized before the Davis IC can process a visa, but it is advisable to enter the system early for guidance, especially if you’re a postdoc and cannot provide proof of your Ph.D. until closer to your start date. This will help prevent delays in your employment.

The University now requires all employees/visitors to use a University laptop. Please contact to let Patrick and/or Maureen know if you would prefer an Apple or PC device. You can also request a monitor. Please contact Laura if you are in need of any other computing equipment or accessories.
The University offers numerous computing resources via its campus network, such as access to library catalogs, Lexis-Nexis, and J-STOR. Wireless Internet at Princeton University is accessed through eduroam.
In order to sign into your account for the first time, you’ll need to create a password and setup a Duo enabled device using the temporary password that will be emailed to you shortly before your appointment start date. Please set up your email as soon as possible (and “Duo Authentication”) to ensure your temporary password does not timeout.

New employees who need to park on campus should complete and submit the online form before orientation day to receive a parking permit at orientation. Members of the University community who need to park on campus must obtain a virtual permit from Transportation and Parking Services (TPS). The TPS Office and TigerCard office are both on the A level of the New South Building and are open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
