We’re excited to announce the re-launch of RECAP Archive, a search tool for PACER (Public Access to Court Electronic Records) documents. PACER is the U.S. government’s system for public access to federal court records and documents. Although these documents are public, PACER charges $0.10 per page for search results and requested reports and documents.
RECAP was created by CITP alumni Harlan Yu, Steve Schultze, and Timothy B. Lee to allow individuals to share records previously purchased from PACER with others looking for the same records. It is now a joint project with the Free Law Project (https://free.law/recap/). The newly re-launched archive (https://www.courtlistener.com/recap/) gives the public the ability to search for more than 10 million PACER documents for free.
