Kulkarni's research interests span several areas including machine learning, pattern recognition, information theory, and signal/image/video processing. He is jointly appointed with Electrical and Computer Engineering and Operations Research and Financial Engineering. Professor Kulkarni is also an associated faculty member with the Department of Philosophy and the Center for Statistics and Machine Learning.
