International Visas Davis International Center The Davis International Center manages all visa issues. Contact Laura Cummings-Abdo, [email protected], with your birth date after signing your offer letter and she will enter you into the system. The Davis IC will issue a temporary ID, becoming your primary contact moving forward. Appointments must be formalized before the Davis IC can process a visa. It is advisable to enter the system early for guidance, especially if you’re a postdoc awaiting proof of Ph.D. Early entry helps prevent employment delays. Computing Laptops Using University laptops is mandatory for all employees and visitors. Contact [email protected] once you have a netID to specify your preference for Apple or PC. Request a monitor through [email protected]. Contact Laura for any other computing needs. Computing resources Access wireless internet through eduroam. Access resources via the campus network (library catalogs, Lexis-Nexis, J-STOR). Account set-up Access your Princeton email account by using the temporary password emailed to your personal email from OIT before your appointment start date. Set up the Duo Authorization promptly to avoid password timeout. Dean of the Faculty Onboarding Onboarding The Dean of the Faculty’s office provides extensive information about onboarding visitors/employees. Much of the information may be duplicate to what you see on these pages. Postdoc Responsible Conduct of Research Training (Mandatory) All postdocs must complete “Responsible Conduct of Research” training. Once you have completed the training, please forward your CITI certificate to [email protected]. Parking Permit and Transit Subsidies Parking permits and transit subsidies To receive a virtual parking permit complete and submit the online form. Princeton also offers transit subsidies and carpooling benefits. Email and netID Accessing your netID and email Your netID is what is assigned to you by the Office of Information Technology (OIT) and used for your email and University programs when you need to login. Once an appointment is formalized, visiting researchers/postdocs will receive their netIDs up to 92 days in advance of their appointment start date. HR employees will receive their netIDs up to 14 days in advance of their start date. Please watch out for important onboarding information that will be sent to your University email account. Creating an alias email You cannot pick your netID. You can create an alias if you like to change your email name. You need to use your original netID and not the alias to login to Princeton programs. Phishing attempts Questions about the legitimacy of an email? ID Card Building access Your PUID card grants access to University facilities and services, such as libraries, gyms, computer centers, etc. Your card gives you Salto access to the CITP kitchen, mail room and some offices. Sherrerd Hall doors are unlocked weekdays from 7 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. Your card gives you access until midnight. Buildings are locked on weekends and during holidays. Public Safety can let you into the building or your office if you are ever locked out. Call (609) 258-1000. Heat and air conditioning is turned off on holidays. If you'll be in the office on a holiday, contact Jean or Laura in advance to request the heating or AC remains on. Report changes in name, address, or social security number to the TigerCard office. Replacement card If you lose your PU ID card, fill out a replacement TigerCard Request Form. The replacement fee is $15. You may need to update your new ID card at a hotspot for Salto access.
