Mission Statement

The Center for Information Technology Policy is a nexus of expertise in technology, engineering, public policy, and the social sciences. Our researchers work to better understand and improve the relationship between technology and society, with a particular focus on AI, Data Science and Society in the service of humanity, Privacy and Security, and Digital Infrastructure and Platforms.

By tightly integrating basic research, applied research, and societal engagement, we enable distinctive impact–both academic and societal.

Every year, fellows from academia and industry visit CITP to collaborate on digital technology research. The Center also hosts public events, including conferences, lectures, lunch seminars, and briefings in Washington, D.C.

CITP's programming includes a Technology and Society undergraduate certificate, a Tech Policy Clinic, a Public Interest Technology Summer Fellowship, and an Emerging Scholars in Technology program.

CITP is an initiative of Princeton University’s School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) and the School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA)
